Customized Interventions

Customized Interventions is a high-quality academic learning center based on best practices and proven educational research. Whether your child is simply struggling to learn or has a specific diagnosis (or multiple diagnoses), Customized Interventions can assist your child and family in a variety of ways for successful learning outcomes.

Sound academic programs are tailored for each individual child while integrating a multi-disciplinary approach by working closely with various professionals, including neurologists, mental health professionals, SLPs, OTs, PTs, special education and general education teachers, and school administrators. From academic consultations and IEPS to therapeutic, specialized interventions, Customized Interventions strives to meet each individual child’s specific needs as well as the family’s goals for the child.

Sandy Rizzo, Ph.D.

dr.-Sandy-Rizzo-WeinerDr. Sandy Rizzo has a private practice, Customized Interventions, in South Florida where she specializes in working with children with Developmental Disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD and a variety of learning challenges. She tailors each individual’s program to the child’s specific needs while working closely with the other professionals involved in the individual’s care. As an educational consultant, Dr. Sandy Rizzo delivers therapeutic, specialized interventions as well as advocates for the child at IEP meetings and conducts academic consultations with the families.

Dr. Sandy Rizzo received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida; Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University; and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Barry University. She has held Florida teaching certificates in both ESE K-12 and Elementary K-6.

Dr. Sandy Rizzo serves on the Board of Directors for JAFCO’s Weston/West Broward Chapter.  She also is a member of JAFCO’s Developmental Disabilities Advisory Sub Committee.Dr. Sandy Rizzo has been a member of FVDD for many years, serving on the Board of Directors as secretary for three years and president for one. FVDD is a statewide advocacy and networking organization which is an independent voice for individuals with Developmental Disabilities. She is actively involved as a volunteer for several other non-profit charities in the community, including Women in Distress, FISP, and HDS Foundation.

Dr. Sandy Rizzo has been working with children with special needs for over the past two decades. As the Director of Educational Services in a comprehensive psychology practice, she customized educational interventions and supervised the educational department. While working at Miami Children’s Hospital’s Dan Marino Center as the Coordinator of Special Education, Dr. Sandy Rizzo was responsible for all special educational programming, as well as summer camp programs for children with special needs. She has been in private practice for the past several years. Previously, she had spent numerous years in the classroom teaching in both the public and private school systems in South Florida .

Dr. Sandy Rizzo has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Barry University teaching undergraduate as well as graduate level courses. In addition to her career in education, she has also published a curriculum in conflict resolution, Peace Making Skills for Little Kids, Grade One.
